Organic Horehound Plant
(Medicinal) Marrubium vulgare.
2-6inch plant
Famous for making old-fashioned Horehound candy, Horehound is a medicinal herb used primarily to break up mucus and phlegm, treat coughs, and sore throats. As an ornamental herb, its attractive, fuzzy gray foliage can also be used as a bouquet filler.
Horehound tends to thrive in dry, poor soil, so this makes a great herb to dress areas up that may have inadequate conditions. If after a year your Horehound doesn't flower, don't be alarmed. It usually takes this hardy little perennial two years to get full established and start producing tiny purple blooms. A member of the Mint family, it has distinct, wrinkled leaves and a tough fibrous root system.
This medicinal herb is still used as a soothing lozenge and cough syrup for chest congestion and sore throats. Though not cleared for this medical purpose in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration, Horehound can still be found on shelves as an herbal supplement and in some cough drops and candies, and remains a very popular treatment in Europe.
Organic Wormwood Herb Plant (artemisia absinthium)
Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) is a perennial herb known for its bitter taste and aromatic properties. It's native to Europe, Asia, and North Africa and has been used historically for various purposes, including medicinal, culinary, and even in the production of absinthe, a highly alcoholic beverage.
Here are some key points about wormwood:
- Medicinal Uses: Wormwood has been used in traditional medicine for its potential medicinal properties. It contains compounds like absinthin and anabsinthin, which are believed to have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anthelmintic (against parasites) properties. However, it's crucial to use wormwood with caution as excessive consumption or use can be toxic due to its high levels of thujone.
- Culinary Uses: In culinary practices, wormwood is used sparingly due to its intensely bitter taste. It has been used in some traditional cuisines to impart a bitter flavor to certain dishes and beverages.
- Absinthe Production: Historically, wormwood was a key ingredient in the production of absinthe, a highly alcoholic and green-colored spirit. Absinthe was popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly in European countries, and wormwood contributed to its distinctive flavor.
- Aromatic Qualities: The plant has a strong aroma due to the presence of essential oils in its leaves and flowers. Some people use dried wormwood in potpourris or sachets for its aromatic properties.
- Caution: Wormwood contains thujone, a compound that, in high concentrations, can be toxic and harmful to health. As such, it's essential to use wormwood in controlled amounts and, in the case of medicinal use, under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional.
Due to its potentially toxic nature, it's important to use wormwood cautiously and only after thorough research or consultation with knowledgeable individuals, especially when considering medicinal or culinary uses.
Southern Wood Herb Plant
Southernwood (Artemisia abrotanum) is a perennial herb belonging to the Artemisia genus. This aromatic plant is known for its feathery, silver-green foliage and a pleasant, lemony fragrance. Native to Europe and parts of Asia, Southernwood is often cultivated for its ornamental and medicinal properties. It's commonly used in gardens for its aromatic foliage and can be dried for use in potpourris or sachets due to its pleasant scent. In herbal medicine, Southernwood has been historically used for various purposes, including as a digestive aid and as a natural insect repellent. Additionally, it's sometimes utilized in culinary applications, imparting a subtle lemon flavor to dishes.
Organic Vicks Plant
Medicinal uses: When crushed the fuzzy leaves of the vicks plant smell like Vick's vap-o-rub or camphor. The herb is used to make poultices for external use and a tea to treat ailments. It makes a good mosquito repellent. Camphor oil is frequently used in pain-numbing rubs or ointments.

Joseph's Coat Cactus , Irish Mittens changes to pink in color.
The edible prickly pear and the infamous cholla are two distinct members of this diverse group of desert plants. They represent, respectively, the two halves of this genus -- plants with flat, broad joints, and those with cylindrical ones. Regardless, all Opuntias have many-petaled, showy flowers in yellow, white, orange, purple or red, and edible fruits. Need full sun and excellent drainage. Watch out for tufts of small bristles that dot the leaves.

Organic Stinging Nettles Plants
One of my favorite plants, used as herbal infusions teas etc.
Grow plants about 12-18 inches apart from each other. Grows 3-5 feet tall. It likes a lot of nitrogen, even fresh manure.
Nutritious Leaves are Good to Eat:
Best harvested in the evening or early morning for more essential oils.
The leaves are eaten in the spring by cooking them like spinach. It is high in protein (25% dry weight), iron, vitamin A, vitamin C, chlorophyll, calcium, manganese, postassium and trace minerals. The cooking water is good to drink. Native Americans harvested the leaves in spring when other food was scarce.
*The leaves are not usually eaten after they start to flower because they are gritty. So to have nettle leaves all year, dry your leaves in the spring. The flowers are edible too. Animals love eating the plants if they are wilted.
Benefits: Stinging nettle’s anti-inflammatory qualities affect a number of key receptors and enzymes in allergic reactions, preventing hay fever symptoms.
